If like many of us here at access, you’re suffering with a case of the January Blues and missing Summer, or even the sun for that matter, we have some tips for you.
First of all, embrace the quiet! You’re probably asking what does that mean, well we’ll tell you. Think back to last month, the most hectic and stressful time of the year, the shops were manic, wrapping paper and gift tags were everywhere, the cat knocked over the Christmas tree countless times and the turkey was drier than the Sahara Desert. Now that the big day has come and gone its time to enjoy some normality again and give yourself some me time!
Me time? What’s that we hear you ask? Well, treat yourself, be selfish. Buy that piece of clothing you’ve been eyeing up, make yourself a ridiculously extravagant hot chocolate, why not even get a spray tan? Everyone needs to be bronzed in January right? That way you can pretend its summer, even when it’s -5 outside.
This one probably won’t be as popular around our office but exercise! Now, before you click off this page in disgust, hear us out. Exercise is good for both the mind and body, it releases chemicals in our brain that make us feel good, apparently. You don’t even need to join a gym either, go for a walk, dance around the house or sleep, that’s exercise right?
Did you know it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? So, why not set yourself a goal to laugh at least 5 times a day or make someone else laugh for that matter – nothings more rewarding than making other people laugh is it?! So get those Christmas cracker jokes out of the kitchens messy drawer and get practising your best ‘Hello Wembley!’ voice.
Now think back to when we recommended being selfish, why not treat yourself to a holiday? That will give you something to look forward to and you can spend loads of money on new clothes for yourself and not feel guilty about it! And guess what, we can help you with accommodation and travel so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We hope this advice is helpful and you don’t have the blues for much longer, the sun will make an appearance soon we’re sure of it. Now we’re off to tell some terrible jokes!
