The 10 Hottest Hotel Openings in 2018 – UK edition

So here it is, your go-to guide to the UK’s hottest hotel openings in 2018 and 2019. Well we don’t have to wait much longer, there are some exciting new hotels opening up and we have all the inside information!

There has been an upsurge in inbound tourism, with many locations around the UK reaping the rewards. London in particular, is demonstrating a strong year, partly due to a number of key events taking place in 2018; in addition to regular annual events, such as Wimbledon, Fashion Week, World Travel Market and the Chelsea Flower Show.

White City House, London

Who: The nineteenth Soho House, is located in the former BBC Television Centre, White City, one of the city’s most legendary buildings also known as ‘the doughnut’ for its shape.

What: This hotel comprises of 45 room fashioned from former offices, with sixties styling, overlooking the Television Centre forecourt.  As well as a Cowshed spa and the group’s trademark rooftop pool, guests can look forward to three floors of club space and a cinema.

Why: The members’ area upstairs houses a games room, several bars and of course that pool with its spectacular views – but don’t worry if you’re not a member, as the whole ground floor is open to you.

The Langley, Buckinghamshire

Who: The Duke of Marlborough’s vast, Georgian country hunting lodge, will be transformed this summer into ‘The Langley’.

What: This unique hotel will have 41 rooms and suites divided across the main house and The Brew House, a Grade II-listed 18th-century outbuilding. Much like its sister, The Wellesley Knightsbridge, original features will be preserved where possible, including Baroque fireplaces and ornate doorways.

When: Summer 2018

Why: The Langley Spa will feature an indoor and outdoor pool, thermal area and eight treatment rooms. Plus, it’s only 40 mins from London and just a hopscotch away from our Pinewood Studios office.

Vintry & Mercer, City of London

Who: The sister to The Ampersand Hotel in Kensington, Vintry & Mercer will be nestled right in the heart of the city among the livery halls, guilds and narrow streets that line the banks of the Thames.

What: Vintry was the centre for London wine merchants; Mercer was for noble textile sellers who specialised in fine silks and damasks. Taking inspiration from the hotel’s local heritage, this is where past and present will intersect and come to life in the contemporary style of the 92 bespoke rooms and suites.

When:  Late 2018

Why: This hotel comes complete with plush textiles, Nespresso machines and of course hidden beneath the hotel is DND (Do Not Disturb), a secret cocktail bar reminiscent of a clandestine New York speakeasy.

Stock Exchange, Manchester

Who: The Stock Exchange promises to be more than just a hotel. Located in the heart Manchester, the Stock Exchange Hotel is the brainchild of former Manchester United football stars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs.

What: Manchester’s historic Stock Exchange building, will be transformed into a luxurious 40-bed boutique hotel, complete with its feature central dome and spectacular design.

When: Late 2018

Why: There are plans for two restaurants – the intriguingly-named ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’ and ‘Are Friends Electric’ – plus a rooftop bar. Both eateries will be helmed by Michelin star chef, Michael O’Hare.

Fife Arms, Scotland

Who: The Fife Arms is a world class hotel, situated on the banks of the Clunie Water in Braemar. This one of a kind building is a significant landmark in the scenic village, famed for the Braemar Gathering annual highland games, the Cairngorms National Park and its Royal Deeside connections.

What: The Fife Arms in Braemar is being sensitively restored and returned to its former splendour as a 46 bedroom first class hotel.  Conde Nast’s Traveler magazine has already dubbed it one of the hottest hotel openings of 2018.

When: Late 2018

Why: This rural retreat promises  a spa, cocktail bar, cinema and a banquet room to truly offer a five-star experience.

Artist Residence, Bristol

Who:  The fourth instalment of Artist Residence properties, is located in the cultural quarter of Bristol, with the aim to bring vacant buildings the life they deserve.

What: This former Grade I-listed, derelict boot factory in Stokes Croft, an area of the city often referred to as often referred to as ‘Bristol’s cultural quarter’ because of its bohemian nature, is undergoing a serious transformation to become a 27-bed boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar (aptly named The Boot Factory).

When: Late 2018

Why: It’s only a 5 min walk away from all the grand sights in Bristol! Plus, this will be a home away from home for the city traveller.

Standard, London Euston

Who: The exuberant US hotel group Standard Hotels, will get their first step into Europe, when it moves to Euston Road later this year.

What: The brutalist former council office block will be transformed into a 270 bedroom five-star boutique, luxury hotel. Clad in metal and glass, the two top levels are transformed into an architectural feature and include hotel rooms and suites, public and private event spaces, dining area, lounge and observatory with public access. It’s also across the street from London Euston, making your next trip that little bit nearer.

When: Late 2018

Why: An external lift whisks public guests from the ground up to the 8th floor. The three-storey roof extension will contain top-end suites, a high class restaurant and an observation area.

The Dixon, Southwark

Who: This new Marriott Autograph Collection hotel is inspired by its surroundings in the up-and-coming Tower Bridge Conservation Area, and is squarely aimed at millennials.

What: Occupying an awe-inspiring building that dates from 1906, when it served as the Tower Bridge Magistrates Court, The Dixon is a new hotel that captures all the culture, creativity and variety of London SE1. It has over 190 rooms and suits, fashioned in an edgy, eclectic design with surprising bursts of colour and finely-crafted details effortlessly complement the authentic original features.

When: Late 2018

Why: All rooms will feature abundant natural light with state-of- the-art technology, including smart TVs and complimentary ultra-fast Wi-Fi.

Hard Rock, London

Who: Look out London, America’s legendary hotel chain, Hard Rock, is coming your way!

What: Located in one of London’s most iconic locations, on the corner of Oxford Street and Park Lane, this hotel comprises of 1000 stylish rooms and suites; together with two vibrant bars and a lively Hard Rock Café.

When: Spring 2019
