5 Stranger Things Filming Locations to Visit

Season three of the Netflix hit, Stranger Things is nearly upon us! Now even though season three was dead certain before the second season even dropped, it didn’t stop us from counting down the days until we got another glimpse of our favourite alien ass-kicking kids (not so kid like anymore)! So if you haven’t already – don’t forget to mark the 4th of July on your calendar, because it’s not just Independence Day for everyone in the States,  it’s also time for things to get a lot Stranger!

So in the spirit of all things weird, wonderful and of course travel related, we’ve gone ahead and collated our favourite Stranger Things Filming Locations (details included)! So even you can make your very own pilgrimage to the locations where the show was brought to life!

Hawkins National Laboratory, Atlanta, Georgia

Hawkins National Laboratory, the workplace of Dr. Brenner, is known for being the heart of unusual occurrences and of course where he conducted his….questionable research. This was once home to the Georgia Mental Health Institute, although most locals will recognise it as part of Emory University’ Briarcliff campus!

The Quarry, Atlanta, Georgia

Formerly known as Bellwood Quarry, this is the shoot location for all of the Quarry scenes in Stranger Things! This has become something of a hot spot for film crews, featuring in The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries and The Hunger Games!

Hawkins Middle/High School, Stockbridge, Georgia

The former condemned, Patrick Henry High School is featured throughout season 1 and 2 and plays host to both Hawkins Middle School and Hawkins High School. Reportedly, these important landmarks still have the original signing on from filming!

Hawkins Library, Jackson, Georgia

This building is one of the spookier ones from the show, probably more so the upside down version of it from Season 1. It was where Chief Hopper first researched Hawkins National Laboratory, but today it’s used as the Butts Country Probate Court.

Benny’s Burgers, Lithia Springs, Georgia

For those fans who aren’t as keen on waffles as Eleven but still want to sample something reminiscent, you’re in luck. Tiffany’s Kitchen (the restaurant used) is used for filming iconic scenes and is where we first caught a glimpse of Eleven. The restaurant closed its doors for filming but was right back to business as usual, the next week, with not a breadcrumb left from Benny’s Burgers.
