TRAVEL UPDATE: Changes to Ryanair baggage policy

Recent updates to the Ryanair baggage policy, means that as of the 1st November, you will no longer be able to take a small suitcase onto their planes free of charge. You’ll still be allowed to carry on one small personal bag (handbag or small rucksack) that can fit under the seat in front, free of charge.

However, with this new change only a limited number of passengers who book priority boarding will be able to take on a small case, as hand luggage.

Fear not though, if you can’t get one of the limited number of priority boarding passes, Ryanair is lowering the rate for smaller, checked-in baggage. Only difference is you’ll have to check this in at a desk instead of taking it on-board with you.

Quick snapshot:

– Priority Boarding customers can continue to bring 2 carry-on bags (1 x 10kg wheelie bag and 1 small bag).

– Non-priority customers can only bring 1 (small/personal) bag from 1 Nov.

– If non-priority customers want to bring a 2nd bigger (wheelie) bag they can buy a lower cost 10kg check bag at time of booking. This 10kg wheelie bag must be checked in at the airport bag drop desk.

– The new policy will go live at boarding gates on/after 1 November 2018 and for all bookings made on/after 1 September 2018.
