It’s National Apprenticeship week! This annual celebration highlights the incredible opportunities apprenticeships offer – not just for individuals, but for the wider economy and the businesses they support.
At Access Bookings, we understand how vital our apprentices are to our past, present, and future, and that’s why we’ve chosen to sit down with one of our longest serving team members, ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Director Adam Hall.
Adam’s career journey began in July 2004 as a travel coordinator and he quickly specialised in international travel. His dedication and talent saw him rise through the ranks, holding various roles including Head of International Bookings and Key Account Manager for the BBC.
The apprenticeship route was something that Adam embraced later on in his career, as way to bolster his knowledge whilst performing his vital role as Access’ green warrior.
“I was 39 when I started my first one, and 41 on the 2nd – so they are not just for young people! “Adam says. “I wanted to further my skills in areas that I was working on daily, but also combine them with my professional role!”

Starting his apprenticeship journey with Data Analysis and completing in an impressive14 months with a distinction, he’s become a firm advocate! Adam remarked “I loved it so much I launched straight into a Sustainability for Business Impact apprenticeship which also includes a Diploma from the Institute of Sustainable Studies”.
“I can learn on the job, and use my everyday tasks and experiences to contribute to my working day, and both courses have been with great cohorts who I have also been able to learn from and gain insight from other industries, which is particularly useful in the Sustainability sphere. Plus its 2 days a month tuition and then completion of assignments and tasks alongside recording my on the job learning, so its fits in great with my work schedule and allows me to apply real life experiences to my submissions.”

Of course, returning to education wasn’t without its hurdles. One of the hardest obstacles for Adam, was working alongside learning and the struggles that come with it, like juggling different work deadlines and his apprenticeship. However, with the support the a-team and our HR Business Partner Daniel Aston (who encouraged him to jump straight into his second apprenticeship), he hasn’t looked back.
We asked Adam, what he would say to himself when he first started as an apprentice. Adam’s advice was,
“Don’t be intimidated, everyone is on the same journey as you and the support you will get from your tutors and cohort will be a massive help.”

We are so proud of Adam and the hard work he continues to do for Access. His story is a powerful reminder that personal growth has no age limit and that there are always new doors to unlock.
Today, Adam proudly holds the title of ESG Director and is vital in spearheading Access’ sustainability efforts. His dedication and hard work as been integral, and has seen Access gain international recognition through official accreditations such as Albert, CDP, and proudly winning Sustainability Champion in the 2025 Business Travel People Awards.
