Hotel Confidential…a spotlight on Village Hotel Sheffield

As part of our Hotel Confidential series, we’ve been politely informed that Sheffield should get ready! Because there’s a new Village coming to town…

Opening in early 2027, Village Hotel Sheffield is bringing its full experience to the Steel City, and if you think that means just a bed for the night, think again. This is a hotel, gym, pool, pub, restaurant, coffee shop, meeting place and social hub all under one roof that is all set for bringing a team to town, housing a production crew, heading to a gig or simply needing a great base.

Leading the charge in Sheffield is Russell Smith, Pre-Opening General Manager, alongside Helen Newton, Dual-Site Director of Sales. Both Russell and Helen know Village inside out, having been with the brand for several years, and they’ll be working with the wider Sheffield team to bring the Village energy and a proper Yorkshire welcome, from day one.

Hotel Highlights

The bedrooms are going to be big comfy ones, apparently, and the TVs will also be huge with great showers and super-fast WiFi. Guests are also able to upgrade to one of the Club Rooms with in-room fitness equipment for those who don’t want to head to the actual gym.

But if the gym is on the list, the health & wellness club is next level, with premium fitness equipment, a packed programme of classes and a dedicated Reformer Pilates studio. Then there’s the pool, whirlpool, steam room and sauna, all equally handy whether you’re fitting in a serious training session or recovering from one.

The Village Pub & Grill offers all-day dining, juicy burgers, steaks, pub classics, famous hot wings and a cold beer. And with huge screens, stadium-style seating and an atmosphere that’s much closer to match day than your average hotel bar. There’s even a Darts Social and a Starbucks.

“Sheffield and the surrounding areas have always been popular for filming, whether that’s for sports or productions so we’d like to think that with this particular hotel, we’ve got the best bedrooms, great meeting and production space, easy parking, food and drink options in abundance and space for crew and talent to work, meet and switch off.

And we know all too well that production schedules don’t always play nicely with conventional hotel routines either, so having everything together in one location gives everyone a practical, flexible base should plans change.”
– Nick Tipper, National Account Manager – Entertainment and Sport at Village Hotels

Where to see

The city is home to Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield Steelers, Sheffield Sharks, Sheffield Eagles and Sheffield United Women, alongside world-class facilities including the English Institute of Sport and Ponds Forge.

Off the beaten track

Located in Sheffield city centre, the Grade II* listed Leah’s Yard has been reimagined as a vibrant hub bringing together Sheffield’s independent retailers, food and beverage, and small businesses. With original bricked buildings and tons of personality from the past, here visitors can experience the legacy of Sheffield’s Little Mesters and where the best of Sheffield’s independent spirit showcases what makes this city so special.

Finally, a vibrant collision of global eats, local talent and feel good energy under one roof, Cambridge Street Collective brings together Sheffield’s most exciting food pioneers, over 20 of them, each with bold, authentic dishes from every corner of the globe.
